National Bowling Stadium

Dubbed by the Los Angeles Times as the “Taj Mahal of Ten Pins,” National Bowling Stadium is the only facility of its kind in the world. Its facade has an 80 feet aluminum geodesic dome that resembles a large bowling ball. Inside the lobby is bronze sculpture of a family hurrying on their way to bowling. The sculpture was presented to the Stadium by the Brunswick Corporation. Bowlers can choose to use the glass elevators or an escalator to reach the Tournament Level situated in the fourth floor. Apart from its 78 championship lane, the National Bowling Stadium is also known for having the longest video screen in the world, 440 foot length, which projects video images and score graphics.

The five-story building has the Lane 81 Pro Shop, Stadium Club and I-WERKS Theater. For bowlers who wanted to purchase a classy and latest bowling equipment, Lane 81 Pro Shop is the best store to spend that bucks. National Bowling Stadium also offers full service bar, pool table, large screen TV in its wood and copper rooms. This area can cater meetings, private parties and bowling functions for a more unforgettable event. If the large screen TV is not enough, get another elevator ride heading to the 172-seater I-WERKS theater. Groups can rent the theater and enjoy the four story screen where they can watch 70 millimeter films. It also has an audio system with six channel digital surround which will surely satisfy moviegoers. In addition, a Computer Aided Tracking System Lane guides the bowlers through its computer generated game evaluation and recommendation for their improvement.

Tournaments and special events are also hosted in the National Bowling Stadium whether it is a small or big tournament. The bowling stadium hosted ABC and WIBC, now USBC, record breaking events. Recently, it was announced that the bowling stadium will undergo a multi-million dollar upgrade and renovation as part of the new agreement between the city of Reno, United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA).
