Located at downtown Reno, Truckee River Arts District is developed as an urban renaissance with two areas including the Riverwalk District and Cal Ave area. Riverwalk District is all about outdoor recreational activity. Everyone enjoys the area as they can walk or bike along the pathway which fountains serve as beautiful scenery. You may find yourself watching people practicing kayak in the Truckee River Whitewater Park or end up rolling a kayak yourself with an expert. Just to make sure you’ll be safe, better enroll in the classes offered by the local vendors.

The outdoor ambiance of Riverwalk District is also a good place to eat. You can choose from the 20 dining options that offer barbeque, comfort food, desserts and pizzas. Included in the options are cafés, wine bars, nightclub, bars & pubs and lounges.

Different restaurants offer cultural cuisine and American cuisine (Wild River Grille) is definitely included. Five more cultural cuisines restaurants are also open such as French cuisine (Beaujolais Bistro), Italian cuisine (CAMPO), Spanish cuisine (Fuego for Tapas & Vino), Greek cuisine (Niko’s Greek Kitchen) and Thai cuisine (Thai Corner).

After the long walk and the sumptuous meal, why not take another walk at the district’s famous Wine Walk. All you need to do is to present a valid ID and pay for the wine tasting fee. You’ll receive an ID bracelet and of course, a wine glass. The original Wine Walk happens every third Saturday of the month from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Since this is an art district, you will be able to see both visual and performing arts in the area. Architectures display arts through vintage churches and historic mansions. During summer, free concerts are offered at Wingfield Park. Reno Philharmonic, largest performing organization in Reno, also performs and the tickets are available at the Pioneer Center. Another performance art space is the Bruka Theatre where you can watch classic, contemporary, original, musical and children’s play. You’ll find comfort while watching the play as the audience seats are couches.

The California Avenue or Cal Ave is a combination of business establishments and few residences. The highlight of the area is The Chocolate Bar which offers an alcoholic and nonalcoholic chocolate drinks. It also offers Chili-Infused Truffles which is quite addictive. You’ll enjoy more of wine as well as cheeses at the Cheese Board. You can also order lunch specialties which are all yummy.

Shoppers also find Cal Ave as their sanctuary as it offers upscale stores for fashion and home décors. Fashion finds include European collections of shoes, unique children’s clothing and outstanding selection of denim.
