Montreux Golf & Country Club
Just as splendid as the gated community of Montrêux residential property, Montrêux Golf & Country Club offers a spectacular view featuring towering pines in its fairways and several water hazards.
Sam Jaksick, Montrêux developer and one of the premier developers in Nevada, brought Jack Nicklaus on board to design the community’s signature golf course. The construction started in 1994 and it formally opened on June 1997. Nicklaus considers the course as one of the top five courses he designed. The high-end quality of the course adds to the sophisticated and timeless feature of the community.
The 18-hole par 72 private course has a slope rating of 146, course rating of 75.3 and a yardage of 7,472 from the longest tee. The greens have an estimated size of 6,300 sq. ft. in Crenshaw Bent Grass. Fairways and tees are Blue Grass and Bent Grass while rough is Fescue or Blue Grass Blend. The course has about 70 special blend of white sand bunkers shipped from Idaho Water Hazards. Lakes, waterfalls and water latent are also included in the course.
Montrêux Golf & Country Club is also tagged as the home of the Reno Tahoe Open. Since the year PGA recognized the quality of the course, it became the venue of the one of only 47 PGA Tour events in the world, Reno Tahoe Open. The event is operated by the non-profit organization Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation.
The course also features a clubhouse which is inspired by the French Country Manor. Designer Gail Richie’s preliminary drawings are executed by using custom materials from floor to the ceiling even the roof. The expansive 34,000 square feet clubhouse features a member’s grill and lounge, three separate dining rooms, a wine cellar, elegant locker rooms and a pro shop. The exterior of the clubhouse is complemented with a beautiful landscape.
The Clubhouse dining rooms include the Private Dining Room, Great Room and Terrace Room which can cater any events from meetings to parties. Outdoor settings including the party pool side at Jack’s Den and the outdoor Marquee in the 18th fairway are also an option for those who will host their event.
Adjacent to the Clubhouse is the Swim/Tennis & Fitness Center offering the most modern equipment for cardiovascular and weight training. Aerobics, Pilates, yoga, and spin classed are also offered. Outdoor sports including tennis, basketball and volleyball can be played at the courts located outside the center. Apart from the two tennis courts and sports court, a member pool is also available outdoor.
